The nearly two-month-long journey of the ‘Pepsi Battle of the Bands’ is coming to a close this Sunday. And while fans are dying to know which one of the finalists, Kashmir or Badnaam, is going to win the battle, they are in for a few more surprises.
The finale, along with several other performances, will see Pakistan’s heart-throb and resident superstar Fawad Khan coming full circle to his musical beginnings. He is set to reunite with his band, Entity Paradigm (EP) – his initial claim to fame, and perform in front of his ever-growing fan base.
Initially, while many lauded his move to return to music, many also criticised it, calling it a desperate move after the India ban. But everyone was pleasantly surprised to see the ‘Kapoor and Sons’ actor’s grasp on his craft during the show as he pointed out and even mentored the new crop of musicians.
It is undeniable to see how the jury’s critique has helped the bands, and especially the finalists, grow. With Fawad, Atif Aslam, Meesha Shafi and Shahi Hasan’s feedback, Badnaam and Kashmir have excelled and are already establishing their own fan base.
At the same time, watching Fawad perform on the grand stage will obviously be the sweetest moment. And it’s not a long shot that, after it’s all said and done, we’ll surely be asking for more.
