LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Friday again lashed out at the Supreme Court’s judgement in the Panama Papers case, alleging that revenge was taken in the name of accountability.
Addressing a women’s convention in Karim Park area, Maryam reiterated her earlier claims that Nawaz Sharif was disqualified because he didn’t take income from his son.
“Do you accept this unjust verdict?” she asked her party workers, adding “If you are against the verdict then vote for lion on September 17.”
Maryam also hailed the role of female workers of the party, saying “Leaders whose sisters and daughters stand with them become invincible.”
She asked the women supporters of the party to stay active on the day of polling. “Don’t get occupied in kitchen on Sunday. Head straight to the polling stations to vote for Kulsoom Nawaz”, she said.
Claiming that the PML-N government had brought progress and development in the country, she asked: “Isn’t power load shedding better than it was in 2013?”
Maryam is handling the NA-120 campaign in absence of her mother Kulsoom Nawaz, who is currently under treatment for throat cancer in London.
The NA-120 seat fell vacant after Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by the SC on July 28. By-election in the constituency will be held on Sept 17.
A total of 44 candidates will contest the by-poll.
