JUP-Niazi to back Dr Yasmin in NA-120

LAHORE: After a meeting between Pir Masoom Naqvi and Chaudhry Sarwar, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (Niazi) (JUP/NI) has decided to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid for the by-poll of NA-120.

The JUP/NI President Masoom Naqvi met PTI leaders Chaudhry Sarwar, Chaudhry Aijaz and Aleem Khan and discussed the present political situation in the country.

While announcing support for the PTI candidate in the by-election, JUP/NI said that it supports PTI in its objectives against corruption elements operating in the country. The leaders of the party said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) dirty against the judiciary has failed who has been resolute in unveiling the truth.

They said that September 17 will be the victory of justice and added that Pakistan is a democratic country and its people will have to fight for their rights themselves.

JUP/NI is a faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, a traditional political party of the Barelvi school of thought, which was founded in 1948 in Pakistan. JUP/NI, as part of an alliance called the Sunni Ittehad Council, contested the General Elections of 2013, but without managing to secure any seat.
