Iranian scholar visits KU, offers aid to Persian department

KARACHI: Professor Dr Mohsin Aashori from Tehran University and representative of Bunyad Saadi on Friday visited the Department of Persian, University of Karachi.

A KU official said that he also had a meeting with the faculty members, adding that Dr Aashori suggested that the KU teachers should write a Persian and Urdu dictionary and all of its expenses would be paid by Iranian institutions.

Moreover, these teachers should also develop and write Persian text books keeping Pakistani environment and needs in

consideration so that people would not face difficulty in learning and understanding Persian.

All these teachers would also be invited to Iran or we will arrange a workshop in Karachi and we will also provide the books

on Iranian literature and history to the library of Persian department from Iran, he said.

Teachers of the KU Persian department said that the scholarships provided by Iran are very low. Professor Dr Mohsin Aashori on the occasion assured to provide financial assistance to the students of the department for an academic tour of Iran.
