IGP inaugurates ‘Police sports event’

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Khalid Khattak on Friday inaugurated ‘Police sports event’ and players of various divisions of the force would participate in it.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the IGP said that sports activities were very much crucial for a healthy society which not only promote an environment of competition but also inculcate the spirit to counter tough situations.

A sports committee was constituted under the supervision of City SP Zubair Ahmed Shaikh to select the players which also included Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ayub Awan, who served in Sports Office, and ASI Muhammad Tahir who served as Assistant Sports Officer in it.

All Sports activities will be monitored by Headquarters SSP Muhammad Bin Ashraf who will also ensure logistical support during the event. The Sports committee selected the players of hockey, cricket, football, volleyball and kabaddi from all divisions of Islamabad police.

The IGP said that policemen feel exhausted from long duties and such events will help to entertain them and provide the opportunity to demonstrate their sports skills. He also expressed hope that the event will remain highly successful and provide an opportunity to policemen to keep themselves physically and mentally fit.
