ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said on Thursday that he has contacted the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold talks on the selection of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.
Talking to reporters, Shah said that NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry was controversial since the day he was appointed.
The opposition leader said that he met Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, but he had not yet raised the issue before him.
Shah further said that they will present the government with a name for the new NAB chairman as soon as possible.
According to Shah, the new chairman should preferably have no links with politics and have no record of corruption.
Meanwhile, the PTI is reportedly making efforts to replace the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah with none other than PTI’s own, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, according to reports.
According to details, PTI might want to replace Shah with Qureshi as the opposition leader before the General Elections 2018.
PTI has even approached MQM-P for this purpose, according to some media reports; however, MQM-P will get to a decision after holding detailed discussions with its party leaders.
