KARACHI: The second day of Fashion Pakistan Week Winter Festive 2017 started as all the who’s who fashion, media and entertainment industry attended the event to show their support to the prestigious platform. With all the razzmatazz that went down on the second day, we’d say that the line up of the 6 designers showcasing their formal, semi-formal and bridal trends with their autumn/winter collection was definitely enjoyed by all.
The designers that showcased their collections on Day 2 included Sanam Chaudhri, Wardha Saleem, Emraan Rajput, Sadaf Malaterre, HEM and the finale by Deepak Perwani.
The show opened with Sanam Chaudhri showcasing her stellar collection ‘Pandora’ which left the audience wanting for more. It featured silhouettes inspired by late 80’s and early 90’s with floral embellishments on the hems of shirts and intricate work keeping it contemporary and allowed one to let the inner diva out.. The ensembles were everything from trendy jackets to kaftans, bold shouldered peplum tops to sarees and Jasmine pants to wide leg pants, this collection seemed to have it all. The designs were simple and sophisticated yet regal and fierce. The colour palette used was that of green, blue and pink gave a winter feel already as each ensemble made a fashion statement of its own. This collection was a treat to watch.
The next collection was choreographed giving the energetic vibes to it. From the music to the models walking on the ramp, Wardha Saleem’s ‘Dholak’ was true to its name as it replicated the ambience of a Mehendi function. The collection featured bridal ensembles for the traditional Mehendi function. Keeping it traditional with a twist of modern, this collection featured vibrant coloured silhouettes with intricate work keeping the detailing on the ensemble in line with our heritage. The collection featured Kamdani work done on each piece and ranged from Lehenga Cholis to Angrakhas, From Ghararas to bright coloured Sherwanis for men. The colour palette had hues of pinks, yellows, greens, orange and lilacs. Sana Javed show stopped for Wardha Saleem in grey heavily embellished Lehenga and a grey cold shoulder Choli with a pinch of pink. The collection was nothing out of the ordinary, but it got bonus points for its energy and music that got the audience dancing in their seats.
The third designer showcasing was Emraan Rajput with his menswear collection ‘The Gentleman’s Club’. We all know that nothing is better than a man in a perfectly fitted suit. Known for his well-tailored suits, Emraan did not fail to impress us yet again. The collection featured a solid colour palette from navy blue, grey, maroon, white and black. The collection featured the classic coats to navy blue suits. As the models walked the ramp in Emraan Rajput confidently carrying each piece from the collection looking classy and sophisticated. Well-tailored three piece suits being our personal favourite, we loved the checked suits, patterned ties, pocket squares and bow ties accessorised with shades on some. This elegant and classy collection was definitely another highlight of the day.
Next up was Sadaf Malaterre with her daring yet flirty collection considering the society we live in. Her collection was designed with bold colours and edgy and sharp silhouettes. The formal wear featured everything from jumpsuits to dresses, from capes to pants with spaghetti straps, tassels, frills and fringes. Frilly neck cuts were also prominent as Sadaf showcased her collection. The colour palette used for her pieces was mostly in dark maroons, blacks and greys.
The second last designer for the day was HEM with ‘The Royal Majesty’. Set in a wintery backdrop, HEM featured ensembles with a soft colour palette of metallic silvers, silvers and dull golds, white and pastel pinks. The collection featured heavily embellished gold and silver dresses along with bead work done throughout. Tassels on the hems of few dresses and trousers were seen as well, looks like tassels in the trend this season along with fanning frills on the neck and waist. The detailed work done on each ensemble caught the eye of the audience but didn’t make a huge impact despite the sophistication and grace by which they were carried on the ramp.
The finale was by none other than the man behind Fashion Pakistan Council himself, Deepak Perwani, who showcased his bridal collection ‘Gold Dust’. Inspired by the exquisite heritage of the sub-continent, this collection featured the timeless yet modern bride and groom wear. From well-tailored Sherwanis to majestic lehenga cholis, it gave a feel of a traditional bridal wear. The cherry on top for that vibe was the colour palette of reds, maroons with gold detailed work. The modern/subtle vibe was given by the mint green, champagne gold ensembles with silver work. The Sherwanis carried by the male models were styled with green and maroon shawls with classic golden work on them.
Day 2 ended with some new fashion trends that we can look forward to in the upcoming season. Thus, the show ended with royal ambience after Deepak’s showcase, leaving the audience super excited for the final day of the fashion week.
