LARKANA: Larkana Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Abdullah Shaikh on Thursday said that in entire Larkana range, 16,665 policemen will perform their security duties while 2,000 officials from Rangers and Pakistan Army will also remain on standby during the first 10 days of Muharram.
He said out of 1329 Majalis in Larkana division during Muharram, 592 are sensitive while 737 are normal.
Giving a breakdown, he said 25 processions had been declared sensitive out of 181 processions in Larkana; in Jacobabad district, 185 processions are sensitive and 28 normal; in Shikarpur, 146 sensitive and 397 normal; in Kashmore -Kandhkot, 210 are sensitive and in Kambar-Shahdadkot, 126 sensitive and 156 normal.
In separate statement, Larkana SSP Sajid Amir Sadozai said that all imambargahs, worship places, majalis, mosques, and processions will be provided tight security throughout the district. He said that all entry and exit points will also be checked and snap checking has already been intensified along with patrolling.
He said that he has instructed all the SHOs that parking should be at least 200 feet away from the processions.
Sadozai said a ban would be place on music at cable channels and wine shops would also remain closed during the period. He 3,300 policemen will be deployed to provide foolproof security and cops of Rapid Response Force and Quomi Razakar Force will also be patrolling the areas.
