LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq has taken notice of the party’s Lahore-based leadership’s announcement in support of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Kalsoom Nawaz in NA 120 by-polls, Pakistan Today has learnt.
This very move came after the press conference of JUI-S Lahore President Maulana Asim Mehmood along with PML-N’s Zaeem Qadri in which he assured his support for Kalsoom Nawaz.
Sources privy to the development said that Maulana Samiul Haq clarified that JUI-S would never even think to support the Sharifs in any elections. “JUI-S has so far not announced support of any candidate in Lahore’s poll.”
“JUI-S has so far not announced support of any candidate in Lahore’s poll,” added the sources.
Sources within the party said that a strict action will be taken against Maulana Asim incase he fails to clarify his position in this regard.
“Maulana Asim held press conference without taking into confidence party senior leadership. A show cause notice has been served to him to clarify his position,” they said.
They said that Maulana Asim will have to clear his position within 24 hours or party leadership will take action against him.
