According to police officials, two suspects identified as Abdul Malik alias Haji and Haider Ali alias Rajo were killed in a shootout with the law enforcement personnel. The police claimed to have recovered two TT pistols and a vehicle from their possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police Abdullah Ahmed said that both the suspects were involved in the abduction of trader Masood Feroz from Bahadurabad area and two of their accomplices were killed and two others arrested in an encounter on Sept 7. He added that sleuths of the anti-violent crime cell carried out a targeted raid following the lead provided by the arrested kidnappers.
On Sept 7, two kidnappers were killed and two others arrested after a fierce shootout with AVCC police in the city’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed neighborhood, which had led to the safe release of a hostage from their captivity.
Masood Feroze was abducted from Bahadurabad area on August 23. The abductors had demanded Rs15 million from his family for his safe release.
On being approached by the captive’s family about the abduction, the AVCC along with Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) worked on the case, said SSP AVCC. As a result, a joint team of AVCC and CPLC conducted a raid at a building in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area.
As the team of the law enforcers reached close to the building, the kidnappers opened fire on them and tried to flee from the scene, he said. After a heavy exchange of fire, two kidnappers were killed and two others were arrested while the captive was also safely rescued, the officer said.
