Police baton charge teachers during protest in Karachi

KARACHI: Police baton-charged teachers in Karachi who were protesting non-payment of salaries outside Karachi Press Club today.

Out of those who were baton charged by the police, two were injured and three arrested. According to details, police also tried to use water cannons on the protesters.

The protesters’ stance was that they were promised salaries before Eid but even after the passage of so much time, they were still unpaid.  This protest took place after their salaries remained unpaid. The protesters also threatened to surround the Chief Minister House if their salaries weren’t paid.

Provincial Information Secretary Nasir Hussain Shah reached the protest site and is carrying out discussions with the protesters.
