Lawmakers show resentment on introducing Rewaj Bill

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly’s Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) suggested that regular laws of Pakistan may also be extended to FATA instead of only introducing The Tribal Areas Rewaj Bill 2017.

The committee met at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Muhammad Jamalud Din and reviewed “The Tribal Areas Rewaj Bill 2017” (Government Bill) in detail.

However, the chairman said the bill was deferred with the recommendation that next meeting of the committee would be convened on one point agenda of “The Tribal Areas Rewaj Bill 2017” in order to finalise the bill.

The committee also considered the Rulers of Acceding States (Abolition of Privy Purses and Privileges) Bill 2017 and approved the bill unanimously with certain amendments.

The meeting was also attended by Muhammad Nazir Khan, Muhammad Kamal Malik, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, Bilal Rehman, Bismillah Khan, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Sajid Hussain Turi, Shahabud Din Khan, Al-Haj Shah Jee Gul Afridi, former senator Kamran Murtaza and States and Frontier Regions minister and officials of the ministry.
