KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Farooq Sattar on Monday expressed displeasure over the performance of the local government, in particular of Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar.

The MQM-P summoned a session of the local government officials with Farooq Sattar in chair and reviewed the government’s performance.

The Rabbita Committee said if inconsistency between the tenders and results is found out then the administration of the central district should be changed.

Sattar also demanded a report from the Karachi mayor, deputy mayor, and district chairman.

The MQM-P chief, while reprimanding the Karachi mayor, said that he was ‘causing embarrassment to him’.

Upon the question of performance, an exchange of words also took place between Akhtar and Kamran Tessori.

The Rabbita Committee session will be held after three days, it was announced in the meeting.

Earlier, it was reported that the party was reviewing the local government system ranks in the provincial capital in light of the disappointing handling of the post-rain situation in the city.

The party was holding discussions for new names for the offices of mayor, deputy mayor, chairman and vice-chairman.

The party leadership had also sought reports on the performance of all districts.
