Punjab govt using all resources to promote international sports: spokesperson

LAHORE: Punjab government Spokesperson Malik Ahmad Khan has said that Punjab government is utilising all out resources to promote international sports activities. After the PSL final in the provincial metropolis, successful holding of World XI matches of Independence Cup will not only raise the positive image of Punjab but also Pakistan as a peaceful and sports friendly nation throughout the world, he added.

He expressed these views during a press briefing along with Provincial Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Jahangir Khanzada regarding Independence Cup and World XI T-20 series 2017 at 90-Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, on Sunday.

On the occasion, Lahore Division commissioner informed the media that similar arrangements have been made at all enclosures at Qaddafi Stadium to provide comparable facilities to all the citizens. He said that a final shape is being given to best cleanliness arrangements through joint efforts of Lahore Waste Management Company.

He also said that electric coolers and filtration plants are being installed inside the stadium so that the provision of cold water could be ensured to the cricket lover; besides, he said that all edible items will be available at control rates inside the stadium. Operations DIG Haider Ashraf told that 19 SPs, 45 DSPs and 6,000 police officials will perform their duties for ensuring security arrangements in order to make the mega event successful. He said that four tier VIP securities will be provided to the players.

Lahore CTO said that a traffic plan has been evolved for smooth flow of traffic in Lahore. He said that for the information of alternate routes, citizens of Lahore can contact traffic police helpline ‘15’.
