Wasim Akram’s wife, Shaniera, received a lot of flak when she posted a video on twitter urging Pakistanis to act together against the littering epidemic. Shaniera initially received hateful comments that targeted her for not being ‘Pakistani enough’ to criticise.
I call on Pakistan. This is not a Karachi problem. Lets stop thinking we are separate provinces & start acting as one whole united country pic.twitter.com/ry2bA8z3TP

In short time, however, the initial hate turned to overwhelming support for Shaniera when she refused a hateful tweet and in doing so allowed for the support to be ushered in.
I didn’t know I needed a PhD to care for our country?? And before you separate me from “Pakistanis” please remember this is my country too https://t.co/EK2CL04sHq

The support that Shaniera received quickly caught the eye of her Husband, and cricket star, Wasim Akram. He expressed his contentment at the support that his wife received in a post he shared on his own twitter handle.
Wow such beautiful tweets. I’m so proud of my country for the love&respect u have shown my wife & for adopting her wholeheartedly. Thankyou?

His tweet, in turn, also received an influx of encouraging comments that defended Shaniera original concerns.
