Former president Asif Zardari will file appeal against the ATC verdict in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto assassination case.
The decision was taken at a high-level party meeting at Bilawal House, Karachi on Thursday. PPP spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that Zardari would file appeal as legal heir of the victim aggrieved by the verdict. Zardari also signed ‘vakalatnama’ in favour of his counsel Sardar Latif Khosa who would represent Zardari in the case.
Those who attended the meeting included besides Asif Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Faryal Talpur, Khurshid Shah, Yousuf Raza Gillani, Qaim Ali Shah, Nayyer Bokhari, CM Murad Ali Shah, Latif Khosa, Farooq Naek, Aitzaz Ahsan, Rahman Malik, Sherry Rehman, Qamar Kaira. Salin Mandviwalla, Nisar Khuro, Ch Manzoor, Navid Qamar, Nisar Khuro, Moula Bakhsh Chandio and Farhatullah Babar.
The party also decided that Chairman Bilalwal Bhutto Zardari would become an intervener in the presidential reference filed by Asif Ali Zardari in the Supreme Court to revisit the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case. Advocate Senator Farooq Naek will represent Bilawal Bhutto in pursuing the reference on behalf of Bilawal Bhutto as intervener.
