In pictures: Pakistan celebrates 52nd Defence Day

LAHORE: On September 6, the country celebrated its 52nd Defence Day in commemoration of the wartime anniversary of the 1965 Indo-Pak war. The martyrs, soldiers and veterans of the war were remembered and hearty tributes were presented to the country’s successful defence against Indian aggression and un-called for intervention.

Across the country, there were several events held to commemorate the event. Pak Army, Pak Air Force, Pak Navy, and Rangers participated with palpable zeal and fervour to mark the event. The personnel from all military and para-military forces were seen actively indulging in happening ceremonies across the country.

A special commemorative night event was also hosted at the GHQ to which Pak Army COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa rightly addressed the country’s citizens. He took the enemy by its weakness and foretold that the country’s existence is perpetual. He also mentioned the input and sacrifices of Pak Army’s jawans during the war of 1965 and paid special tribute to the martyred. On the occasion, he vowed to end terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
