Another LHC judge refuses to hear Kulsoom Nawaz disqualification case

LAHORE: Another Lahore High Court (LHC) judge Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza on Wednesday refused from hearing the petition filed by Pakistan People’s Party nominee for NA-120 by-polls challenging the approval of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz nomination papers by the election tribunal.

Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza was heading a three-member bench for hearing the petition filed by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Faisal Mir in the Lahore High Court.

During the hearing, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza refused to be a part of the bench.

The petitioner has stated that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate had kept secret the facts about Iqama and shares in companies. She did inform about holding of Iqama but did not mention the earning through it and details of bank accounts.

Kulsoom is also nominated in a treason case in a Sindh court.

Earlier, Justice Farrukh Irfan, who was heading a three-member bench, had also refused to hear case citing personal reasons.
