LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, condemning the massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Burma, questioned why the international community including Pakistan is neglecting the genocide of innocents.
Talking to the party leaders and workers who came to exchange Eid greetings at his residence on Tuesday, he said that our rulers should immediately take the matter to the United Nations, and the international community should call an emergency session of the Security Council and take immediate and effective steps for stopping this barbarism and inhuman bloodshed by the Burmese government.
Parvez Elahi said that these oppressed Muslims are victims of great oppression and difficulties, and were forbidden from celebration Eid to the fullest. He said that Pakistani rulers are not capable of voicing the sentiments of its people regarding the tragedy.
Condemning maltreatment by Bangladesh’s government with the Muslims refugees, Parvez Elahi said that Pakistan is hosting millions of Afghan refugees for many years and that Haseena Wajid should shelter them.
He said that in this respect, special responsibility lies on the rulers of Pakistan which was secured in the name of Islam.
