LHC rejects application against use of govt machinery in NA-120 by-polls

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday rejected an application filed against the alleged use of government machinery in upcoming NA-120 by-polls.

A petition was filed against this act by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Lahore High Court (LHC) for which the court has called for an explanation by returning officer. Petitioner has alleged in his application that some elements were allegedly using government machinery in the electioneering of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, wife of Nawaz Sharif.

Returning Office Mohammad Shahid has submitted the reply before the court and viewed there was no violation of election code of conduct in NA-120 by-polls. He pointed out in his replay that there was no use of government machinery.

The big battle of NA-120 election is approaching and every political party is taking part. On the other hand, Election Commission of Pakistan has prohibited running any sort of election campaign in NA-120. Lahore Mayor Col (retd) Mubashar Javed has assured the Election Commission to implement the rules.
