PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak has asked the Finance secretary to prepare a comprehensive case of the dues, and genuine claims of the province, which he would advocate at Council of Common Interests (CCI), to get the provincial claims on net hydel profits according to AGN Qazi formula.

The CM also said that he would fight the case of the province to get the claims of the province which are due to be cleared by the federal government.

He said this while presiding over a high-level meeting on net hydel profits – the agreement concluded with WAPDA for the methodology of clearance of net hydel profits, purchase of power of the four hydro power stations, the exact figures of the power generation, the claim of the province on excise and the principles established by the AGN Qazi formula for the claim and clearance of net profits – at Peshawar CM House.

Finance secretary briefed the chief minister about the claims and the outstanding dues against WAPDA and the federal government. Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Israr and other administrative secretaries were also present.

The chief minister also directed to gather the exact outstanding claims of the province which have to be cleared by different federal departments.

Khattak also pointed out that the AGN Qazi formula has already established the course, which has also been decided by the Supreme Court. Now the CCI is required to direct NEPRA for the fixation of rates.

The CM said that he will also convince the relevant quarters for the fixation of hydel power rates, expedite the recovery and remove flaws in the system to ensure smooth flow of resources from centre to the province, which, he added, was the rights of the province.
