Cantonment boards remove waste on Eid

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Boards have removed nearly 6,506 tonnes of waste, including entrails and offals during three days of Eidul Azha.

According to Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Spokesman Qaiser Mahmood, 826 tonnes of waste were removed on Saturday, the first day of Eidul Azha, 848 tonnes entrails and offals on Sunday, while 832 tonnes waste were shifted on the third day of Eid from RCB areas to the dumping site.

The spokesman also informed that 350 sanitary workers were deployed on Eid with 50 vehicles to shift waste from Cantt areas to the dumping site. Waste, including entrails and offals, had been cleared from all transfer stations set up in RCB area for Eidul Azha, he said adding that RCB Cantonment Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Saima Shah monitored the operation while it was supervised by Additional CEO Rameez Shafqat.

The residents also appreciated efforts of the board which worked hard to clear waste during Eid days.

Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) also removed over 4,000 tonnes waste during those days.

CCB Secretary Amanullah while talking to APP said that 310 sanitation workers under the supervision of four sanitary inspectors, including Basharat Hussain, Shabbir Hussain, Abel John and Yasir, were on duty during Eid holidays while the board used 23 dumpers and numerous vehicles to shift waste from Cantt areas to the dumping site.

All 10 wards of the cantonment have been cleared while the entire operation was monitored by CCB Additional CEO Naveed Khan, he said.
