In order to review the security arrangements for international cricketing stars visiting the country to play a three-match series against Pakistan – Independence Cup 2017, to be played on September 12, 13 and 15 at the Gaddafi Stadium – International Cricket Council’s (ICC) two-member special security team arrived in Lahore on Monday
The World XI will be captained by South Africa’s Faf du Plessis and comprises a star-studded lineup of 14 players from seven different countries.
It has been learned that PCB officials will brief the ICC team on security arrangements in Lahore, especially inside and around the Gaddafi Stadium.
The tickets for the highly-anticipated Pakistan versus World XI series have been available online since Friday. The tickets, ranging in prices from Rs 500 to Rs 8,000, can be purchased from eticketing.pk.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi said that tickets would be sold on a first come first serve basis. “First Come First Served. Independence Cup tickets for three match series in Lahore 11-15 Sep are on sale,” he tweeted.
The World XI side consists of Faf du Plessis (c), Hashim Amla, George Bailey, Paul Collingwood, Ben Cutting, Grant Elliott, Tamim Iqbal, David Miller, Tim Paine (wk), Thisara Perera, Darren Sammy, Samuel Badree, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir.
Earlier in August, PCB also announced the 16-member squad for the series. The names of those included are Sarfraz Ahmed (c) (wk), Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, Umer Amin, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Muhammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Hassan Ali, Amir Yamin, Muhammad Amir, Ruman Raees, Usman Shinwari and Sohail Khan.
