ISLAMABAD: On the directives of Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz, Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Sanitation Directorate has successfully completed the cleanliness operation on Monday.
During the special operation, the Directorate collected and disposed of entrails and other waste material of over 60,000 sacrificial animals.
As per directions of the Islamabad mayor and CDA chairman, Deputy Mayor Syed Zeshan Ali Naqvi visited different sectors, towns and urban areas to inspect the arrangements made by the Sanitation Directorate in connection with the cleanliness operation.
On this occasion, sanitation director, officers of other relevant formations and local representatives were also present. Sanitation Director Sardar Khan Zimri also visited different areas of the city on the first, second and the third day (till now) to make this operation more successful.
While appreciating the arrangements of cleanliness operation, Islamabad’s deputy mayor said that all staffers and officers of the relevant formations participated in the cleanliness operation with full devotion, and for this reason the operation remained successful and efforts of officials and officers in this regard were commendable.
He said that the resident’s cooperation was among the key factors for making this operation a success. During the visit, Director Zimri apprised Naqvi that according to the action plan, 60 deep ditches and trenches were dug up at 25 different locations of the city where the remains and offal of sacrificial animals were scientifically disposed.
Leaves of the entire Sanitation Directorate staff were cancelled to meet the hectic task and officials and officers served in the field on an emergency basis. More than 2,000 sanitary workers—including sweepers, supervisory staff, contractor’s staff and officers—actively participated in the cleanliness drive. Emergency and disaster management and other formations also assisted in the said operation along the staff of sanitation.
Moreover, about 200 vehicles, including tractors with trolleys, dozers, trucks, compactors, were used in the operation which continued round the clock.
During the operation, meals were also provided to the sanitation staff in the field to avoid wastage of time. Lime powder was also sprinkled and applied in the surroundings of the places where sacrifices took place, around ditches and garbage trolleys.
While appreciating the arrangements and successful cleanliness operation carried out by the Sanitation Directorate, the deputy mayor urged that the staff to continue to work with the same zeal and enthusiasm to keep Islamabad clean and green.
He said that the CDA took effective measures to equip the Sanitation Directorate with the latest machinery to keep the capital clean.
He also lauded the cooperation of the residents as well as media due to which the cleanliness operation remained successful. Residents of the capital city also lauded the efforts of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) to keep the city clean and in tidy condition.
