XIAMEN: Leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations at the 9th BRICS Summit in China on Monday.
The summit, hosted by China this year, began on September 3 and will conclude on Sept 5.
Leaders of member countries released the Xiamen declaration Monday, expressing concern over the security situation in the region.
“We strongly condemn terrorist attacks resulting in death to innocent Afghan nationals….We, in this regard, express concern on the security situation in the region and violence caused by the Taliban, ISIL/DAISH, Al Qaida and its affiliates including Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, TTP and Hizb ut-Tahrir,” said the declaration.
“We deplore all terrorist attacks worldwide, including attacks in BRICS countries, and condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations wherever committed and by whomsoever and stress that there can be no justification whatsoever for any act of terrorism. We reaffirm that those responsible for committing, organizing, or supporting terrorist acts must be held accountable,” said the statement further.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the summit and will hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping tomorrow, their first meeting after the border dispute between the two countries in Doklam cooled down last month.
Modi earlier held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

  1. So now your ‘all weather friend’ has condemned ‘good terrorist’ that you been utilizing for couple of decades against your neighbors, how are you going to defend ourself? by use of your nukes? you will be the ‘north korea’ of SE Asia if haven’t yet become one!

  2. Pakistan only a few days back strongly condemned Trump statement accusing it of harbouring terrorists and using them against its neighbours. China was the only country who came to Pakistan’s rescue against US stance has now joined hands with arch rival India along with Russia holding Pakistan accountable for supporting terror organisations against India and Afghanistan. This is clear shift in China’s foreign policy who is so far been considered as the all weather friend of Pakistan has inflicted a great embarrassment on Pakistan. What can Pakistan do now except to hold its head in shame as it cannot condemn China who is the only friend left in the entire world ?

  3. what about indian state sponsored terrorism in PAK. What about RAW, Kalbhoshan yadev and kashmir. China,s dual face is now clear. By this excuse and india praising policy, china will no longer power just 20 years.

  4. The BRIC condemnation of militants living comfortably in our soil should be a wake up call for our civilian, military as well as elitists. Sooner or later China will do what it is best for its strategic position in the world and Pakistan will not be a factor in that decision. We have become a basket case. With our fast growing population, pittance of foreign currency reserve and slow GDP growth, we need need to redirect our economic and foreign policies. We do not bring any significant economic muscle to China-Pakistan relation. China will ditch us. Then what? We should start planning our own future without depending on China and see the world as it is, rather than what we wish it to be via our “fair weather friend” China. I believe with pragmatic policies, we can be a economically successful country.

    • Sir, your comment is spot on. When half of the world is fighting terrorism, Pakistan can ill-afford to support the same any longer which is stated clearly in the BRIC summit. Unfortunately, the country’s foreign policy is not in the hands of the civilian govt but dictated by the all powerful establishment who has brought the country on the brink. China could no longer soil its hands supporting export of terror by Pakistan and spoil diplomatic and trade ties worth several billion dollars with both US and India. Pakistan should see writing on the wall should start unwinding its terror machinery before it is slapped with crippling sanctions and international isolation.

  5. There is nothing known as “fair weather friend”. It is only the national interests that matter. Pakistanis find out such phrases! We were once calling ourselves the” most Allied of allies” of US. It was good for Public consumption. History should teach us that once push comes to shuve we are on our own. If the national interests are common we can agree to disagree about the tactics employed but agree to the strategy. We can’t run with the hares and hunt with the foxes at the same time. The perception world wide is that Pakistan supports terrorism, it is up to us to prove the opposite!
