We are choosers, not beggars

At last, the cat jumped out of the bag; the much awaited Trump’s policy on Afghanistan and South-Asia has come to the surface. The contents of the policy make it more an anti-Pakistan policy rather a policy on Afghanistan and South-Asia. It seems that through his so-called Afghan policy, Mr. Trump has tried to fabricate a scene of damage and disaster in South-Asia, particularly in Afghanistan. His so-called Afghan policy would do nothing but cultivate the thorns of hatred and enmity among the people of this region. President Trump said in the very beginning of his speech on Afghan policy, “We must acknowledge the reality I’m here to talk about tonight: that nearly 16 years after the 11 September attacks, after the extraordinary sacrifice of blood and treasure, the American people are weary of war without victory. Nowhere is this more evident than with the war in Afghanistan, the longest war in American history, 17 years. I share the American people’s frustration. I also share their frustration over a foreign policy that has spent too much time, energy, money, and most importantly lives, trying to rebuild countries in our own image instead of pursuing our security interests above all other considerations.” So Mr Trump has admitted that war in Afghanistan has been a futile activity and it really frustrated the whole American nation. It is something very interesting that a country like USA with a lot of resources and with its trust-worthy’ friends’ like India could do nothing in Afghanistan but it is blaming Pakistan for damaging the US’ efforts in Afghanistan. It means Pakistan was always in a more influential position of playing a vibrant role in Afghanistan than any other country including US and India. If this situation were known to the US policy makers, they must have suggested withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan and must have requested Pakistan to take care of Afghanistan in the very beginning.
‘Pakistan has much to gain from partnering with the US’ were the words of President Trump while referring to the ‘perks and privileges’ Pakistan had allegedly been enjoying out of the war in Afghanistan. At the same time he warned Pakistan that ‘it (Pakistan) has much to lose by continuing to harbour criminals and terrorists’. But as far as the fact and figures are concerned, Pakistan had been harbouring US and the NATTO forces throughout the US war in Afghanistan and it had to bear grave losses at the hands of the terrorist for harboring US and the NATTO forces. Certainly someone may ask Mr Trump if Pakistan were providing hideouts and financial support to the terrorists then who were those who had been slaughtering our innocent school-children and who were those who had been blasting our markets and bazaars, our universities and our offices and who were those who had been targeting our mosques, imambargahs, public parks and the buildings of security institutions. Certainly Mr Trump is not behaving like a sensible American in the present scenario.
Pakistan has ever been very sincere to all efforts regarding regional and international peace. No effort of Pakistan is ever linked with any urge of monetary or financial benefit. If Pakistan had been providing unfortunately unacknowledged support to the US’ efforts in Afghanistan at the cost of its own peace and prosperity, it was certainly not for the financial benefits, it was just in the larger interest of the world around. Moreover Mr Trump must keep it in his mind that we the people of Pakistan are not baggers, we are the choosers. We are not a slave country and we would never welcome any dictation from anyone including US or India. We are the need and the future of the world. Honourable Mr Trump would certainly have noticed the unanimous and collective reaction of the whole of Pakistani nation in response to his ‘epoch-making’ policy on Afghanistan and South-Asia. The government of Pakistan, the Parliament, the media and the security institutions and Intelligence agencies of Pakistan and above all the people of Pakistan are on the same page in this matter. Moreover our nation is really thankful to our all-times friend China for providing us a very strong support at this unfortunate juncture.
Instead of pushing the South-Asian countries into a new inferno of war and instead of wasting his words in blaming Pakistan of supporting terrorists, Mr Trump must cast a glance at the recently published article of Brandon Turbeville. The title of the article is ‘From Charlottesville to Boston, America is falling apart at the Seams’. The writer Brandon Turbeville is author of seven very popular books; he writes on different social and political affairs particularly with specific reference to the US. He has bitterly criticised the actions and planning of Trump administration in this article. The writer says, “As America once again picks up the rubble from one of its regularly scheduled race riots, the hatred and anger felt by the participants is spreading throughout the country. Black/white left/right division is now at one of the highest levels in recent years, again drawing presidential commentary and endless coverage in the mainstream corporate press. Social media is on fire with every inflammatory opinion one can imagine. All social ills are being placed on the shoulders of whites, blacks, Democrats, Republicans, and people long dead. Today, lines are being drawn between racial groups, political identities, and genders; and the average person doesn’t have a say in the matter, those lines are being drawn for them. At times, they are drawn by the media, other times by radical fanatics in the street hurling insults, fists, and feces at anyone who dares disagree or even dares not to agree with them.”
The American nation has always played a very positive role in settling various conflicting issues of the world. America is a force more known to the world for its role as a solicitor and pacifier, helper and care-taker. Mr Trump must always keep in mind this matchless repute of the American nation. Life is not always a wrestling-ring and the role of a world leader is very much different from that of a wrestler.
