ISLAMABAD: “Eid-ul-Azha is an opportunity to celebrate, reflect, and through charity and prayer, pay respect to all faiths,” Australian High Commissioner Margaret Adamson said, in her Eid-ul-Azha message to government and the people of Pakistan.
According to the Australian High Commission, Australia is one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world and the almost 62,000 Pakistani residing in Austarlia contribute significantly towards making Australia a prosperous and harmonious society.
Islam has become the second most common religion in Australia, and Pakistani Australians make up the largest of Australia’s Muslim communities, she said.
The growing people-to-people links, our shared Commonwealth heritage including our common love of cricket, form the basis of the enduring relationship between our two countries, forged 70 years ago, she said.
Wishing a happy Eid, she prayed: ”May this Eid be a peaceful celebration for all”.
