Rawalpindi City Traffic Police on Thursday established a special helpline in order to address the different complaints of passengers including over-charging, over-loading and non-compliance of scheduled route.
The police advised the general public to register their complaints on the traffic police helpline: 051-9272616.
Spokesman of Rawalpindi traffic police told APP that special squads were also formed to keep the traffic smooth during the Eid days and address the complaints of people.
These squads were formed on the special directives of Chief Traffic Police Officer Yousuf Ali Shahid with an objective to provide maximum facilitation to commuters and road users during Eid.
He said that on tehsil and city levels, different sectors were formed and divided into beats and the in-charge of each beat was directed to visit bus terminals to keep a check and balance.
Besides, a special awareness campaign was also launched by the education wing of the Traffic Police to educate the transporters about the traffic laws and educate the passengers about their rights.
He said that the education wing has also displayed banners in different areas to educate the public about the traffic rules, besides warning those trying to fleas the passengers.
The spokesman further informed that a complete ban was imposed on the road side markets of sacrificial animals to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
