ISLAMABAD – Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday lambasted the skill of conducting press conferences depicted by US President Donald Trump, saying that it is always a better idea to pick tease over tirade.

“Pakistan is not responsible for the failure of US and its president in learning the idea of press-tease,” Nisar said while talking to The Dependent. “What you don’t say is often more agonising than what you end up saying,” he added.

Nisar ridiculed Trump’s claims that the US has paid “billions and billions of dollars” to Pakistan.

“I have personally seen the bank account statements and pay slips provided by the Haqqani Network and all branches of the Taliban,” he said. “See, this is why one needs to be careful about what one says and even more careful about what one doesn’t say.”

The former minister also advised Trump to opt for the ‘back pain excuse’ when the content of the presser isn’t intriguing and tantalising enough.

“Take your time, there’s no hurry,” he said. “If they’re waiting for you to say things today, they’ll be there tomorrow as well – and the day after.

“In fact, they’ll be there long enough for you to get most of the demands that you were going to make in the original presser, anyway.

“But be careful on how much intrigue you’re going to put in the cauldron, because one moment you’re joking that you’re going to resign and the next moment you’re not the interior minister.”
