Khattak directs timely completion of Swat Motorway

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak directed the concerned quarter to ensure progress on Swat Motorway as per the time-line determined between the provincial government and FWO.

He was presiding over a meeting to review progress on projects being launched through FWO in the province at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. The meeting was informed that FWO would undertake four hydel power projects in Chitral and Naran. On the directive of the CM, the secretary energy assured to issue letter of intent for the projects by September 20.

Khattak said that it was a prerequisite to lay down transmission line for the three hydro power projects in Chitral by FWO. However, he said he would take the transmission line of the projects to the CPEC but still he asked the FWO to lay down transmission line for these projects. FWO agreed to it and would sign an agreement with the energy department.

Regarding the Swat Motorway, the meeting was informed that bad weather was delaying the construction work. However, FWO assured to achieve the target soon and in September, they would plan the carpeting of 10 KM long road adding that drilling work at one side of the tunnel was in full swing but from other side it would be started in October.

The CM also directed to accelerate the process of land acquisition for Peshawar model town and CPEC city project Nowshera. FWO assured to arrange payment, the movement, land acquisition process is finalised.

Khattak also asked to accelerate the finalisation of KP Education Services Act 2017 in order to enforce the law which would be seen as part of the education sector reforms.

He was presiding over the 5th Stock Take, the special initiatives of the provincial government in elementary and secondary education in the province at Peshawar CM Secretariat. The meeting was briefed about the standardisation of 202 higher secondary schools in nine districts of the province.

The CM directed to concentrate on the completion of schemes under the reform process in the health and education sectors, adding that the resources given to the districts should be spent with clear objectives.

CM also directed to revisit the release policy of funding to the districts, adding that there should be a separate account for the resources transferring from provincial government to districts.

The meeting was informed that the KP Education Service Act reached the law department. The CM said that this law was very important and directed to finalise it as soon as possible.
