CDA cancels sanitation staff’s leaves for Eidul Azha cleanliness drive

Sanitation workers will participate in a special cleanliness drive on the occasion of Eidul Azha, while special arrangements have been finalised for the provision of quality services and collection and disposal of offals and other waste remains of sacrificial animals.

The cleanliness operation will continue for three days during Eid and 2,000 workers of Sanitation Directorate would work around the clock. Islamabad Mayor and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz has ordered to cancel leaves of Sanitation Directorate’s entire staff.

A meeting in this regard was held at CDA Headquarters, which was chaired by the mayor. On this occasion, Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) Chief Officer Asad Mehboob Kiyani, Civic Management director general, director sanitation and senior officers of concerned formations were also present.

Mayor was briefed about the special arrangements for Eidul Azha. He was apprised that sanitation director divided Islamabad into six zones for collection of offals, and other waste remains of animals to achieve the target.

According to the action plan, during the operation on the eve of Eid, more than 2,000 workers of Sanitation Directorate including cleaners, supervisory staff, contractors and their staff, and officers will work around the clock.

Under the plan, more than 200 vehicles from sanitation, environment, enforcement and MPO, including tractors and trolleys, compactors, trucks, dumpers, shawal, dozers would be used for collection and disposal of wastes of sacrificial animals.

Being part of the special sanitation plan for Eidul Azha, 60 deep ditches have been dug out at 25 different locations in entire city, where offals and other animal wastes would be deposed off, scientifically in line with hygienic standards.

Two emergency cells have also been established, one at Transport Section, CDA fire Headquarters in G-7/4, while the other one at Sanitation Directorate, Sector G-6/1-4, which would be functional around the clock for a quick response.

Mayor requested the citizens of the Federal Capital to cooperate with the CDA staff and not to throw offal and other remains on the green areas. Sheikh Anser Aziz has said that, with the cooperation and following the directions of sanitation plan, the required results could be achieved.
