SIUT holds memorial in honour of Athar Hussain

KARACHI: Staff and faculty members of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) paid glowing tributes to their colleague Athar Hussain in a specially held memorial meeting on Tuesday.

Athar Husain, a leading dialysis technician in the country and SIUT’s dialysis unit in-charge, was eulogized for his role in the establishment and running the country’s first modern dialysis setup.

He was also remembered for 35 years long association with the institute and selfless service to the patients during this period.

SIUT Director Professor Adib-ul-Hasan Rizvi paying rich tributes to his one-time colleague said, “Athar immensely contributed towards the growth of dialysis facility at the Institute and was an integral part of the entire treatment process provided to dialysis patients often spreading over years.”

Professor Rizvi said that the dedication and commitment of Athar Hussain hold no parallel, and that legacy he has left behind needed to be emulated by all those who are in the profession of patient care.

Professor Ejaz Ahmed, Dr Buksh Ali, Dr Mudassar Abbas, Imran Ayub, Abid Ali and Agha Hussain also paid rich tributes to him and recounted various aspects of his personality.

The meeting was largely attended by SIUT doctors and other colleagues of the late staffer.
