Maryam Nawaz begins NA-120 campaign

On behalf her mother Kalsoom Nawaz who is currently seeking treatment in London, Maryam Nawaz initiated the campaign in NA-120 for the by-election scheduled for September 17.

After praying for the good health of her mother, Maryam stressed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would secure the seat and reassert the majority of the party in the federal government.

She said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had stayed silent on the matter of his disqualification for a long time and now his political rivals should have the courage to listen to his narrative.

After inaugurating the party office in Mozang, she addressed the workers, who chanted a loud “no” when Maryam asked if they accept the Supreme Court’s verdict in Panama case. “Are you ready to elect Nawaz Sharif for the fourth time?” she asked.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notices to MPA Mujahid Zahoor and Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin for accompanying Maryam Nawaz in NA-120, which is in violation of the code of conduct. They have been asked to respond in 3 days.

The returning officer has asked Punjab chief secretary to reveal the status of Sharif family’s homes in Raiwind and Model Town within 3 days. Kalsoom Nawaz’s opponent in NA-120 by-poll and PTI leader Yasmin Rashid had filed a complaint that Maryam Nawaz is running the election campaign from both houses.
