Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) at the PM Office in the federal capital on Tuesday.
The executive committee has approved nine major economic projects in different fields, including revision of the Prime Minister’s National Health Programme and construction of 132KV new grid station and transmission line as well as energy loss reduction project by the Sukkur Electric Power Company.
The distribution of power project aimed at expanding distribution network of SEPCO to meet growing demands in districts of Sukkur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Larkana, Ghotki, Qamber, Kandhkot, Dadu, Naushero Feroze, Khairpur, Benazirabad and Jamshoro at a total rationalized cost of Rs 3825.16 million.
Energy loss reduction project to reduce technical losses resulting from the distribution conductors and equipment due to poor power factor in various districts of Sindh costing Rs 10,514.51 million. The project includes construction of new 11kv lines, re-conducting of 11kv lines, installation of 37 capacitors, replacement of overloaded transformers, construction of new transformers sub-stations, energy meters and replacement of earthing.
Road projects cleared by the ECNEC include construction of Chitral-Garam Chashma-Doraha road, dualisation and improvement of Old Bannu Road and Pindigheb-Kohat Road, and change in financing modalities of construction of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. The meeting also approved construction of Baran Dam project near Bannu.
