LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that positive results of revolutionary reforms have been yielded for bringing improvement in the healthcare system and vowed that the mission of providing the latest and quality healthcare facilities to the masses will be fulfilled at every cost.
The chief minister stated this while addressing a meeting which lasted for three hours and held a detailed review of health sector reforms and progress on health related projects. It also reviewed the proposed incentive package for hiring foreign experts in government hospitals.
I shall not take rest till the improvement of treatment facilities in the hospitals, he added and further said that every effort will be made to achieve the targets set for the betterment of health sector. Giving approval to the plan of establishing the management of teaching hospitals on modern lines, the CM said that this programme will be initiated as a pilot project. While giving approval to the procurement of more ventilators for teaching hospitals, he directed that the process of procurement of ventilators be initiated soon.
He said that the prime Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme is successfully being implemented in four of the districts in the province and directed that third party validation of the ongoing Health Insurance Scheme in four districts be conducted. He said that steps should be taken speedily to enhance the scope of this programme in all the districts of the province.
Under Health Insurance Scheme, the poorest of the poor families are getting quality healthcare facilities in public and private hospitals free of cost, he said, adding that the Punjab government is setting up a state-of-the-art Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute (PKLI) in the provincial metropolis with a cost of billions of rupees and patients of kidney and liver will be treated free of cost in this institution. He said that Punjab Hepatitis Control Programme is being implemented in an effective manner and latest hepatitis filter clinics are also being established throughout the province.
Salman Rafiq, Imran Nazir, Advisor Dr Umer Saif, chief secretary, ACS, P&D chairman, Health secretaries and concerned officials attended the meeting from Civil Secretariat through a video link.
‘NAWAZ RESPONSIBLE FOR DECREASED LOAD-SHEDDING’:
In a meeting held under the chair of Shehbaz Sharif to approve a consensus resolution with regard to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s efforts for energy crisis, the CM said that the credit of sufficiently decreasing the load-shedding goes to the untiring efforts of Nawaz Sharif. Under his leadership, the PML-N worked day and night for the elimination of energy crisis during the last four years. The establishment of three 3600-megawatt gas-based power projects in Punjab is a bold initiative, he added. The promise of the PML-N leadership made with the people to overcome load-shedding during the General Elections of 2013 is about to be fulfilled, he said.
The chief minister further said that Punjab government has not accepted any form of aid and is self-sustaining. The meeting also appreciated the performance of Provincial Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, Health secretary and the whole team for tackling dengue in Peshawar.
