KARACHI: Pakistan Railways (PR) has extended the countrywide tour of the special ‘Azadi Train’ to some other cities after successful running from Peshawar to Karachi via main line-1 (ML-1).
According to railways notification, Azadi Train earned an unprecedented applause and appreciation from all segments of society and decided to extend the tour to entertain more people.
The enthusiasm and spirit of the general public were tremendous and attracted the attention of all cities and towns on ML-1 from start of its journey on August 12.
The train completed its tour of Karachi and resumed its journey to new cities including Sehwan Sharif, Dadu, Radhan, Larkana, Jacobabad, Kashmor, Kot Addu, Leah, Mianwali and Daud Khel.
During a two-day stay at Karachi Cantt Railway Station, the train attracted a large number of people especially students and families. The visitors took a keen interest in the cultural floats and galleries of the special train.
Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) also organised family musical shows to entertain the people of Karachi.
The visitors highly applauded the performances and termed the train a symbol of unity, as it beautifully depicted the culture and history of the country.
Kashmir galleries and Armed Forces gallery also attracted a large number of people during a two-day stay at Railway Station. The train journey was to conclude in Karachi, but after an extension, more people would get an opportunity to enjoy the special train.
Azadi Train Incharge Officer Muhammad Haseeb told APP that after extension people already started preparations to warmly receive Azadi Train.
