LAHORE: Punjab chief secretary has appointed three officials for an inquiry into the matter of Rescue 1122 DG’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Jam Sajjad who has been harassing a woman.

Jam Sajjad would take the woman to his governmental quarters and harass her; he is known to have done the same to several other women.

According to Saima Javed who had filed the request for an inquiry, a FIR has been filed against the corrupt PRO and will soon be arrested; she also said that the Rescue DG was informed of Sajjad’s ways several times but no action was taken against him.

Saima Javed has been working in the EMT Department for the past 8 years and 6 months. She said that Sajjad works in Rescue 1122’s headquarters and would victimise female workers in the PMC and PR wing, either through threats or through offers for promotion. She said that Sajjad developed physical relations with her after talking about nikah but when she demanded that he fulfill his promise, he intimidated her and threatened to fire her. She also said that she has SMS and call records of conversations with him from July 2016 to January 2017. “I informed the DG about the matter but he won’t listen to a word against Jam Sajjad”, she added.

Saima revealed that she learned about Jam Sajjad’s motives and that he had harassed other women as well (including a woman named Aneeza who is an operator), when she was appointed in the MTC instructor block, forcing her to raise her voice and prevent other lives from being ruined.

Saima informed of how her family life had been affected by the difficulties in her professional one. She said that most of her relatives had distanced themselves from her after learning about her relations with Sajjad. She pleaded that she be provided a secure place to live where Jam Sajjad is prohibited from entering.

She requested that considerate action is taken to pursue the matter and protect her from Jam Sajjad’s black mailing. A lack of due action will bring a bad name to an emergency service organisation which is dedicated to the service of the people, she added.
