The combined investigation teams (CITs) of Rawalpindi and Lahore of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have submitted their reports regarding four references against the Sharif Family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar at NAB’s Operations Division.

Sources told Pakistan Today that the NAB has asked the CIT to record and submit the statements of the members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) before Eid. Notices are being issued to JIT head and two members. The statements will be recorded before Eid holidays.

Investigating officers have only Eid day as holiday, they will be back in office the next day, source added. Earlier on Monday, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry inaugurated the new building of NAB Headquarters. He said that the NAB would maintain zero tolerance against corruption and this new building would symbolise the corruption-free Pakistan one day.

‘NAB is committed to eradicate corruption by using all its resources by adopting zero tolerance as eradication of corruption is our national duty’, he said while addressing the ceremony. Talking informally to the journalists, he said that NAB would probe Sharif family cases according to the Supreme Court’s directions.

The CIT also contacted to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to collect the bank accounts, business companies and tax return details of former premier Nawaz Sharif and his family including Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

Sources confirmed that all of the departments cooperated with the CIT and provided NAB with every help. Furthermore, the recorded addresses to the nation and parliament, of the former premier have been taken seriously into consideration. Earlier, the certified recordings of the addresses were provided by PEMRA to the CIT on its request.

Meanwhile, Awami Muslim League (AML) Chairman Sheikh Rasheed moved the Supreme Court against NAB with reference to Hudaibiya Paper Mills. He argued that NAB did not file appeal against Sharif Family in Hudaibiya Paper Mills case. Earlier on July 21, NAB pledged to file an appeal within one week. Rasheed prayed that SC should order NAB to open the case.
