  • Dorance pays farewell call on Abbasi at PM Office

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said that Pakistan considered France an important friend and wished to enhance the bilateral relations as well as multilateral cooperation with it.

He was talking to French Ambassador Martine Dorance who paid a farewell call on him at the PM Office. Prime Minister Abbasi noted with satisfaction that the two countries were cooperating in the fields of energy, investment and defence sectors.

He appreciated efforts of Ambassador Dorance towards further promoting bilateral relations between the two countries during her tenure. He said that it was very encouraging that friendship groups existed in the parliaments of Pakistan and France to promote mutual interaction among the lawmakers.

The French ambassador thanked the prime minister and appreciated the cooperation of the government during her tenure. She said that she would continue to play her role in strengthening relations between the two countries. Abbasi expressed his best wishes to the outgoing ambassador for her future assignments.

DURRANI CALLS ON ABBASI: Acting Sindh Governor Agha Siraj Khan Durrani called on Prime Minister Abbasi at the Governor’s House in Karachi. During the meeting, they discussed the matters pertaining to overall situation of the province and development projects.

In a meeting with a delegation by prominent businessman Muhammad Ali Tabba at the Governor’s House, Prime Minister Abbasi called for expanding the tax base in the country, besides encouraging the tax-paying culture in order to boost the national economy.

He said that the government had already started a reform process to facilitate ease of doing business in the country. “Our government has focused on expanding infrastructure, including road network and power projects that are a pre-requisite for a robust economy,” he said.

He said the business community was always welcome to provide tangible advice and bring up out-of-the-box solutions that help in further strengthening Pakistan’s economy.

Prime Minister Abbasi emphasised that the interactions between the government and the business community needed to be more frequent. The delegation thanked the prime minister for meeting them and said the business community was as ever willing to support the government in its endeavours to increase exports.

The delegation comprised Fawad Anwar, Zain Bashir, Jawed Happy, Asif Tata, Shahid Surti, Shehzad Ahmed. Special Assistant on Economic Affairs Miftah Ismaeel was also present during the meeting.
