Imran slams ECP: ‘PML-N used govt resources in NA-120 by-election’

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Sunday slammed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for being a silent spectator, saying Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) allegedly used government resources in campaigning for the NA-120 by-election.

“This is not the Pakistan wherein the Sharif family does whatever it wants to do,” he said.

PTI chief said that Dr Yasmin Rashid—the party’s candidate for NA-120 by-election—was up against the whole state.

Imran, addressing a press conference, slammed Inspector-General Punjab for not taking any action when PTI’s female workers were allegedly pushed by PML-N representatives in the constituency.

“Safeguarding the lives of people is the responsibility of IG Punjab,” he said, adding, “If the IG doesn’t do his job properly, we will drag him through the courts.”

NAB was also not spared as PTI chairman said that Asif Ali Zardari’s acquittal in several cases was proof that PPP and PML-N had an understanding with each other.

“They have held institutions hostage,” he said, adding “our Ehtisaab commission caught our own minister.”

Commenting on Zardari’s acquittal, PTI supremo said that this was the main reason why PML-N and PPP had joined hands to appoint the NAB chief.

“Had a JIT not been formed by the apex court, Nawaz Sharif would also have been acquitted,” he maintained.
