IGP issues directives for Eid

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khawaja on Sunday issued directives for implementing a code of ethics for the collection of sacrificial animals’ hides and ensuring bans imposed under section 114.

According to a police spokesperson, IGP also directed officials to ensure extraordinary security at mosques, imambargahs, Eidgahs, open places and venues for sacrificial animals.

According to a Karachi police report, over 16,200 police personnel will perform security duty at the city’s 3,143 mosques, 207 imambargahs, 34 Ismaili/Bohri Jamaat centres, 439 Eidgahs, 222 sacrificial animal venues and 794 hide collection camps.

The report said that the deployment of policemen dressed in plainclothes is also being ensured in and outside the Eidgahs along with other public places.

According to reports, all divisional SPs, SDPOs and SHOs are also being assigned duties to ensure patrolling, checking and picketing at public places on the evening of Eid.
