Terming the Population Census 2017 as rigged, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Farooq Sattar has invited Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and Afaq Ahmed to join him and wage a joint struggle against the recently announced population facts in the census report.
Addressing party workers at PIB Colony’s KMC ground, Sattar announced that he will be leading out a rally in protest of the alleged irregularities from Quaid’s mausoleum within 48 hours.
He alleged that the census not only deprives ‘muhajirs’, it will affect Punjabis, Sindhis, Hazaras and people belonging to other communities as well who are living in Karachi and deprive them of their due rights.
According to reports, Sattar invited Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Muhajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) and PSP to join him against the alleged irregularities in the report, and stand with them against the injustice being done to Karachi.
Sattar also alleged that the numbers in the census report were rigged because he believed that the population of Karachi was no less than 30 million and added that the figures of Karachi city’s population have been tampered with, and they also go against international facts.
Karachi continues to be the most populous city of Pakistan, but according to the provisional results of the Sixth Population Census conducted this year, its population stands at only 14.9 million, which is far below the number anyone expected.
