LAHORE: School of Health Sciences at University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Surraya Azim Hospital for future collaboration, training and practical exposure of medical students and faculty involvement in knowledge transformation. UMT Director General Abid Shirwani and Iftikhar Chaudhry, member of the governing body at Surraya Azim Hospital, signed the deal and later on exchanged pertinent files.
Located in the heart of the city, Surraya Azim Teaching Hospital is one of Lahore’s oldest hospitals, catering hundreds of thousands of patients with the best modern facilities and latest technology.
Speaking on the occasion, UMT Director General Abid HK Shirwani said that partnering with the Surraya Azim Hospital would result in a great learning opportunity for the students of School of Health Sciences. He said that UMT students would get practical exposure and a sense of professionalism by doing internship and house-job at the hospital. The DG further said that together, UMT and Surraya Azim Hospital would make efforts to bring innovation in the medical science and make new discoveries in the field.
Expressing his views, Zikrullah Mujahid, president of the governing body of Surraya Azim Hospital, said that it was a matter of great pleasure to connect the hospital with UMT; an inspiring modern institution of higher education. He said Surraya Azim Hospital is working purely on professional grounds and catering to the humanity with passion and devotion. Mujahid hoped that UMT would professionally contribute to the hospital in terms of novelty and modernisation as it has revolutionised the education sector.
It is worth mentioning that after affiliation with Surraya Azim Hospital, both the faculty and students of School of Health Sciences (SHS) will find plenty of opportunities to do health research, improve expertise, add value to the performance of the hospital and get experience working in different specialities and with different kinds of patients.
