In what has become a regular occurrence, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, as well as his sons Hussain and Hasan and daughter Maryam Nawaz, didn’t appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). They were summoned by the bureau as part of the probe into their offshore properties.

Like Nawaz, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also failed to show up at the bureau.

Previously, the Sharifs skipped their appearance in NAB Lahore on early Sunday.

Reportedly, the six-member team of NAB Lahore—headed by NAB Lahore Director General Shehzad Saleem—was waiting for Sharifs to question them over the London properties on Sunday. The team had summoned Nawaz’ children and his son-in-law MNA Captain (retd) Safdar by 2pm.

NAB sources on Monday had suggested another notice would be issued to the family, adding that they will inform the Supreme Court in case they did not appear before them.

As per law, three notices are issued with a gap of 15 days.

It is crucial to mention here that when the bureau had summoned PM’s sons to file their replies pertaining to NAB’s references against them, the brothers did not show up. According to reports, Hassan and Hussain would not appear until a verdict was passed on the review petitions submitted earlier by Sharif family in the apex court.

“My client Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has been apprised of the above-cited notice today and instructed me to convey his inability to appear before the Combined Investigation Team as has already filed a review petition against the judgment dated 28.07.2017,” read the letter to NAB sent by the Sharif family’s legal team.

Meanwhile, NAB has already completed questioning from National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President Saeed Ahmed and Javed Kiani. However, they may be summoned again if need be.

NAB sources revealed that Ahmed was grilled for six hours regarding misuse of two accounts, while Kiyani—a close associate of the Sharif family and chairman of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association—was questioned for five hours about the transfer of money using his accounts.
