ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) has challenged Election Commission orders of August 16, in Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Justice Amir Farooq of IHC took up the case for hearing on Tuesday.

During the course of hearing Advocate Anwar Mansoor from PTI appeared in court.

Advocate Anwar took the plea that foreign funding case is sub-judice in the apex court, therefore ECP should be stopped from initiating any proceedings till court’s verdict.

Justice Amir Farooq remarked, “Will it not be appropriate that you should approach SC in this matter as for how can we issue any orders regarding the ongoing case in SC.”

On this note, Mansoor said SC bench is not available due to vacations and ECP has issued a final notice to Imran Khan for filing a reply on contempt of court notice till September 7. ECP has no authority to initiate contempt of court proceedings pertaining to foreign funding case.

The court while adjourning the hearing till August 28, issued notices to ECP and Akbar S Babar.
