Seven abducted policemen recovered from Rajanpur

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Seven police officials, including an assistant sub-inspector, who were kidnapped by a gang of armed robbers on Sunday, were rescued as a result of a police operation in the riverine area of Rajanpur district on Monday.

Around fifteen armed dacoits had kidnapped seven policemen from Pattan Lundwala, Rojhan, on Sunday when they were patrolling towards Nabi Shah on a boat.

Talking to media persons, DPO Rajanpur Atiq Tahir said following the kidnapping incident in the precincts of Bangla Ichcha police station, Dera Ghazi Khan RPO Rehmatullah Khan Niazi called police force from Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffargarh and DG Khan districts, and sealed the Katcha area in order to launch a search operation for the missing officials.

ASI Muzammil Sanjrani, constables Jamshed, Safdar, Luqman, Zeeshan, Shakir and Sabir were safely recovered but the criminals managed to escape taking advantage the terrain.

Rajanpur DPO said that police teams were making efforts to arrest the robbers, saying that the robbers were offshoots of Chotu gang—a notorious outfit.

The DPO reaffirmed his resolve and commitment to arrest the remaining criminals of the gang as early as possible.
