ISLAMABAD: The basic objective of establishment of Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation is to provide residence to the homeless federal employees at lowest cost on no-profit no-loss basis.

In this regard, the housing foundation has so far provided residential plots to about 23,000 employees in different parts of the country. However, the foundation strongly condemns the news items related to the recent meeting of Public Accounts Committee and would like to bring some facts to limelight.

The Thalian Motorway Housing Scheme was launched as a joint venture with the private sector after a formal approval from the federal cabinet.

In this housing scheme, 75 per cent quota of plots has been reserved for the federal government employees, while the remaining 25 per cent was allocated to the general public. As far as the quota of federal government employees is concerned, the booking of all the plots in this category has been completed.

For reservation of plots, the federal government employees have already deposited the down payments. Similarly, for allotment of plots out of general public quota, the membership–rights of which rest with the foundations– is in process.

In this context, the legal notices have been served to the relevant newspaper (Daily Jinnah, Sang Meel, Saypahar) for publishing baseless news. A notice has also been served to the Khyber newspaper (Peshawar) in this regard.

The housing foundation reserves the right for taking any legal action against all those newspapers, which have not responded to the legal notice within 15 days. The foundation has already initiated the legal action against such newspapers.

General public and members are further informed that the land for the Thalian Motorway Housing Scheme would be procured at the rate of Rs 425,000 per kanal. The total price for ten thousand kanals (10,000 kanals) comes to Rs.4,250,000,000.

The joint venture partner has so far mutated 1407 kanal of land in the name of housing foundation but no payment has been made for this, yet. Moreover, the mutation of 4500 kanal land in the name of the foundation is in the process.

All the payment for the land would be made to the entire satisfaction of the housing foundation; therefore, the allegations for any financial mismanagement and corruption are totally baseless. This can also be ascertained by going through the special audit report which has been conducted on the insistence of the housing foundation. For the satisfaction of the members, the foundation would like to inform them that the control of all the administrative, financial and implementation of development activities is in the hands of foundation and the scheme would be implemented in an excellent manner.
