LAHORE: The current year has been unpleasant for government employees so far, whereby, during the past 8 months, 26 incidents have taken place against government officers, as perpetrated by unidentified persons, who have shot and injured several officers.

So far, during this entire episode, the role of police has been negligible. Despite cases being registered for the government officials, police’s investigation department continues to show a lack of concern in pursuing the investigation.

Whereas Dolphin Force, Elite Force, PRU Force were created to curb street crime, but so far, they have not been able to prevent criminal activity; even though millions of rupees have been allotted to them, the performance of these organisations remains subpar.

The extent of their inefficacies is such that not only the police is unable to secure civilians but also government officials. Even though no loss of life has occurred, in just July and August, 7 government employees have been shot at, including Anjum, who is an in-charge at Punjab Chief Minister Complaint Cell; Anjum was shot at his residence, by unknown persons, in order to threaten him, as are other employees.
