Pakistan mourns 46th martyrdom anniversary of Nishan-e-Haider Rashid Minhas

Rashid Minhas who has been honoured with Pakistan Army’s most prestigious award the Nishaan-e-Haider gave away his life for the country 46 years ago today.

He was born on 17 February 1951. He was commissioned as a pilot in the Pakistan Air Force in 1971. Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas was taxiing for taking off on a routine training flight when an Instructor Pilot forced his way into the rear cockpit, seized control of the aircraft and took off. When Rashid Minhas realised that the absconding pilot was heading towards India, he tried to regain control of the plane but was unable to do so. Knowing that it meant certain death, he damaged the controls and forced the aircraft to crash thirty-two miles short of the border on 20 August 1971

Pilot officer Minas how can we the sargodhians know you and your Father Air/Cmdr Shabbir bhai.You made a great sacrifice for the country for which Pakistan gave you NISHA E HAIDER and land (which comes with the NISHAN E HAIDER) your father did more from the land.
    He with the help of SOBA(sargodhian old boys association), they created a school in Tando ALLAH YAR, where students from all walks of life come to study.Every year 50 students come to study, many from rich families and many from very poor and remote places WHOSE FEES ARE PAID BY SST(sargodhian Spirit trust)where the ex sargodhians(who studied at P.A.F Public school/college sargodha)contribuite and also do the fund raising, to pay for full expenses of poor families so that the children can study. It covers uniform, food books all expenses etc.He also has created a small Medical place where free medical treatment is given to the poor. Shabbir bhai, you have done great and the best work a son would want his father to do for the departed soul WHICH we call “SADIQA E JAARIYA for our Rashid Minhas. May ALLAH give you the best of the best in both the worlds.AMEEN.
