Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday expressed anger on the slow pace and quality of construction works.

Accompanied by Local Bodies Provincial Minister Jam Khan Shoro and other high officials, Murad toured various areas and reviewed the construction of several roads, under-passes and flyovers.

While expressing anger at the ‘works department’ over the slow pace of work on the construction of road during his stop at Manzil Pump, the CM directed the relevant authorities to complete the on-going construction projects at the earliest.

“A footpath should have also been constructed with this road,” a furious Murad reprimanded the works department. Murad also reviewed the progress of work on the on-going development projects in Malir 15, Jogi Mor, Star Gate and Punjab Colony.

Warning the relevant authorities that slow pace of construction works would not be tolerated, the CM said that KMC’s development projects appear to be completed on papers, while the work on ground is incomplete and is progressing very slowly. He also asked KMC to enhance the quality of its work.

During this tour, the CM said that law enforcement agencies (LEA) continue to apprehend the criminals and terrorists in Karachi through several search operations. Murad said that the recent surge in the criminal activities was an attempt to demoralise the LEA, but it will be foiled with iron hands.

Speaking about the target killing, the Sindh CM said that the terrorists wanted to discourage the LEA. “The Police are working day and night to eradicate target killing and yet another gang was eliminated yesterday,” he added.
